From 28th to 31st of May 2009, at Brancaleone in Rome, will take place the seventh edition of LPM – Live Performers Meeting: International encounter of live video performers, visual artists and VJ meeting, dedicated to live video performances.

The Rome 2008 edition, followed in September by a special Mexican edition, registered the participation of 257 artists from: Algeria, Argentina, Austria, France, Germany, Japan, Guatemala, UK, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Hungary. 142 shows and performances gave life to the 900 square meters of the Macello IV – Mattatoio di Testaccio, setup during the four days with 13 beamers and screens.

This edition will take place in brand-new exclusive location, the historical Brancaleone. Its spaces perfectly fit the needs of the Meeting, which during this years has definitely enlarged its range of contents, artists and audience.

LPM will again use its 4-day formula, creating a unique and unforgettable event, which every year grants a program full of workshops and showcases of projects, software and brand-new products.

LIVE VIDEO is the main focus of the four days and each day is highly characterized by the diverse themes and scenes contributing to the event.

There was a documentary film crew at Cafe 1001 when I arrived at the vjlondon.org meetup. They were there to produce a 3 minute segment on VJing in London for a television show. They asked if they could interview me. I’m much more comfortable behind a camera than in front of one, but gave it a go.

The editing process might have lost a little in the translation – I’m seen saying “I’ve just started”, though I started in 2006, and I think I was talking about just starting performing in London. You can see the result below.

I had a better-than-expected play out on the triple-head setup; I heard some interested comments somewhere in my vicinity and had some nice feedback from people who had been watching.

Thanks to Dr.Mo for organising the meetup, Nebulus and SilentEclipse for the projectors, DeepVisual and whoever else supplied equipment.

There was a significant power outage in East London that night that extended to quite near Cafe 1001, so thanks also to good fortune. I had a great time, much better than I imagine I’d have had at home in the dark!
