If you’ve never been to the Horse and Groom in Shoreditch, you’re missing a trick or two. It has the appearance of a traditional East End Boozer, with great ales and food, while at the same time, playing cutting edge underground music, with a world class line up of DJs dropping in to play a few tunes. With sofas more cosy than the ones at home, why stay in and watch X Factor on a Saturday night, when you can pop in and feel right at home at the Horse and Groom.

Mooch is the new kid on the block, brought to you by the creativity and enthusiasm of Kate Nunn (WiSH, Kink), Natalie Coleman (Hours) and Yellowcake (KSS Records). Collectively our aim is simply to put together an evening of the best moody minimal and playful techno within the relaxed environment that is the Horse and Groom. And what’s more it’s a big fat, credit crunching FREE! Can’t say fairer than that.

Each month we’ll be inviting a special guest to play with us, selecting from local, up and coming talent to well established DJs at the top of their game. To kick things off in January we’ve invited good friend, Kath Harding to come and have a tinkle on the 1’s and 2’s. Kath is best recognised has the extremely hard working and talented DJ/promoter of WiSH. Currently in its ascendancy into outer space, WiSH can boast the likes of Misstress De Funk and Tim Sheridan lining up to play there.

So without further ado, you’re cordially invited to come and enjoy a pint, chat to the locals and get all hot and steamy with the thumping tunes we intend on dishing out.

There was a documentary film crew at Cafe 1001 when I arrived at the vjlondon.org meetup. They were there to produce a 3 minute segment on VJing in London for a television show. They asked if they could interview me. I’m much more comfortable behind a camera than in front of one, but gave it a go.

The editing process might have lost a little in the translation – I’m seen saying “I’ve just started”, though I started in 2006, and I think I was talking about just starting performing in London. You can see the result below.

I had a better-than-expected play out on the triple-head setup; I heard some interested comments somewhere in my vicinity and had some nice feedback from people who had been watching.

Thanks to Dr.Mo for organising the meetup, Nebulus and SilentEclipse for the projectors, DeepVisual and whoever else supplied equipment.

There was a significant power outage in East London that night that extended to quite near Cafe 1001, so thanks also to good fortune. I had a great time, much better than I imagine I’d have had at home in the dark!

The inaugural Sound on Vision party sparks to life at the roomy upstairs galleries at Vibe Live (upstairs from the Vibe Bar), taking you on a journey through the rabbit hole of sensory stimuli from the cream of London’s AV scene.

No audio without visual, no visual without audio – experimental stunts in light and loudness from DJs, VJs, Visual artists, Producers and AV acts.
